A female victim called Shelton Police on Wednesday, Nov. 14 alleging that Owen Mason, 31, had strangled her during an argument. By the time police had arrived on scene, Mason had fled.
Mason allegedly returned several hours later, breaking into the victim’s apartment and yielding a hand gun. He then threatened to kill the victim. The victim’s 4-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were home at the time of the incident.
Mason once again fled the scene, and police continued to canvass the area throughout the night. However, they were unsuccessful in locating the subject.
Mason was arrested on Monday, Dec. 10 at Derby Superior Court, where he was appearing for unrelated charges. Mason was detained on a $275,000 bond and faces the following charges:
- Home invasion
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Strangulation in the second degree
- Risk of injury to a child
